Your body was meant to move freely. Stiffness or mild aches don’t just appear and then disappear. Eventually they begin to dictate how you work, sleep and live.

Chiropractic care helps restore natural movement to your joints, relieving daily stress on your body so you can function as you were meant to. Apex Chiropractic offers structured, personalised care designed for your future. We’re in the business of feeling better today, performing better tomorrow.

Corrective chiropractic

Why Chiropractic correction? It puts the body in a biomechanical advantage that takes stress off of the spine, joints, muscles and nerves bringing relief to the entire musculoskeletal system and nervous system, allowing your body recover fast, sleep better, and put away pain, discomfort, and stiffness among others.

At Apex Posture & Spine Correction of the spinal alignment begins with a comprehensive chiropractic exam in which we check for leg length discrepancy, vitals, orthopedic testing among others. Then we do X-Ray where we analyze the spine and map it’s alignment. In this step we check for any spinal abnormalities, flexibilities, spot areas of correction and draw an Ideal Alignment for the person. Along with a postural screen which tells exactly where your posture is in space. Those 2 images combined give me enough information to design a care plan for Spinal and postural correction.

Posture Correction

Posture correction is achieved with Mirror image exercises, Mirror image adjustment and Traction. Each one of these activities is designed to address the tissues on our bodies like the muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, nerves and our neurological system to create changes towards correction. The exercises are designed to teach our muscles to be in the correct alignment and to correct the muscle imbalance. The mirror image adjustment along with the exercises are designed to retrain our brains and nerves into what is the correct posture.

Personal Injury

How Injuries Can Be Caused by Car Accidents Auto accidents produce sudden forces that drive the spine, joints and soft tissues beyond their normal range of motion. Whiplash injuries occur when the head is forced back and forth quickly, which often leads to an injury to the muscles, ligaments, discs and nerves surrounding the spine. Shoulder and hip strain, low back strain are also common. The body has to go through a process of inflammation and compensation, and therefore the first symptom of trouble is not usually a severe symptom such as stiffness, pain or nerve irritation but the appearance of these symptoms some days after the accident.

Common Causes of Injury in Crashes

● Whiplash & Neck Strain: Quick acceleration strains delicate cervical tissues.
● Spinal Misalignment: Vertebrae shifts and joint restrictions from impact.
● Soft Tissue & Disc Injury: Micro tears to muscles and ligaments or bulging spinal discs.
● Compensation Strain: Overworking the surrounding muscles in an effort to shield the injured area.

The Importance of Early Care But masking post accident pain without fixing the structural damage causes inflammation which can become chronic problems.
Getting your posture and spine evaluated early on in a targeted way will ensure proper healing, restoration of full range of motion and prevention of long term complications.

Mirror Image Excerise

This is where we achieve Neuromuscular Rehabilitation. Retraining our bodies and mind where the correct posture is. It’s done through moving our bodies in the opposite direction of where the current alignment is. By repetitively moving our bodies in the opposite direction and holding for 2-3 seconds in the opposite direction the person will create an isometric contraction restoring muscle imbalance, the brain and eventually the posture.

Adjustment

An Adjustment is where we apply gentle forces to a joint to restore joint function, ease pain, improve range of motion and help your body move and feel better.

traction

After taking X-Rays and analyzing the spine of the patient we then use the force of traction to pull the patient back into alignment. These forces are applied through the spine with the use of straps and harnesses and the help of the X-Ray analysis to pin-point the location where it needs to be placed and pulled. The pulling direction is in the direction of recreation of the normal spinal curves. Feels like a sustained stretch and it does not provoke pain.

Heat/Cold Therapies

Cold is typically applied in acute cases where the onset of pain was 24-72 hours post injury and is used to decrease inflammation. Heat is used after the first 72 hours and in chronic cases. It is also used to improve local circulation, loosen muscle spasms and stiff joints.

Electric Neural Stimulations

The Electric Neural Stimulations are used to help manage the pain of acute or chronic patients and the idea behind it is to re-educate the muscle to contract so atrophy doesn’t happen, prevents muscle weakening, helps poor circulation and blocks pain signals.
